WHAT IS SEMAGLUTIDE?  GLP-1 (Glucagon-like peptide-1) is a hormone that regulates appetite and blood sugar levels in the body. GLP-1 medications are a type of prescription drug used to treat obesity and type 2 diabetes. These medications work by mimicking the action of GLP-1 in the body, which leads to increased feelings of fullness, reduced hunger and food cravings, and improved blood sugar control. Clinical studies have shown that GLP-1 medications can help patients lose up to 5-10% of their body weight, leading to improved overall health outcomes. It’s important to talk to a healthcare provider to see if GLP-1 medication is right for you.

HOW WILL GLP-1 WORK FOR ME? Here are some reasons why GLP1 medication might be the perfect addition to your summer body routine:

  • It helps suppress your appetite, making it easier to stick to a healthy diet and avoid snacking.
  • It can also improve your body’s insulin sensitivity, which can help you burn fat more efficiently and reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes.
  • GLP1 medication has been shown to be safe and effective in clinical trials, making it a trusted choice for weight loss. So if you’re ready to feel confident and strong this summer, consider adding GLP1 medication to your regimen. With its proven results and powerful benefits, it just might be the secret to achieving your dream body.
  • HOW DO I GET A PRESCRIPTION?  To get a prescription for weight loss medication, you should first talk to your healthcare provider about your weight loss goals and any medical conditions you may have. Your healthcare provider may recommend lifestyle changes, such as diet and exercise, as the first step in weight loss. If these measures aren’t effective, your healthcare provider may consider prescription weight loss medications as an additional option. It’s important to note that weight loss medications are inappropriate for everyone and can have potential side effects. Your healthcare provider will assess your individual circumstances and medical history to determine if a weight loss medication is appropriate for you. If they do prescribe medication, make sure to follow their instructions carefully and report any side effects or concerns promptly.

HOW DO I TAKE THIS MEDICATION?  GLP-1 medications are usually taken by injection, once daily or once weekly, depending on the prescribed medication. Your healthcare provider will give you specific instructions on taking the medication, including the dose and frequency of injections. Here are some general tips for taking GLP-1 medications:

    1. Always follow your healthcare provider’s instructions for dosing and administration.
    2. GLP-1 medications are typically injected subcutaneously (under the skin) in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm.
    3. Inject the medication simultaneously each day or week to help establish a routine.
    4. Rotate injection sites to prevent discomfort or skin irritation.
    5. Store the medication in a refrigerator until ready to use, and avoid exposing it to direct sunlight or extreme heat.
    6. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it’s close to the time of your next scheduled dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule.

It’s important to talk to your healthcare provider if you have any questions or concerns about taking GLP-1 medications. They can provide personalized guidance and support to help you manage your weight loss or diabetes treatment plan.

INJECTIONS, WILL IT HURT?  Using a 31 gauge needle for GLP-1 injection is relatively common, as it is an excellent needle that can help minimize discomfort during injection. However, the sensation of pain or discomfort during injection can vary from person to person. Some people may feel a slight pinch or sting during injection, while others may not. Suppose you are concerned about the pain associated with GLP-1 injection. In that case, you can talk to your healthcare provider about minimizing discomfort, such as using a smaller needle, numbing the injection site with ice or numbing cream, or using a different injection technique. Your healthcare provider can also demonstrate the proper technique for injection to ensure the best possible experience for you.
